Now in its tenth year, and third within the Lighthouse and Golden Hare partnership, the Edinburgh Book Fringe is a burgeoning festival celebrating books, bookshops and communities.
We think Edinburgh is a special place, especially in the history of literature. And as the first UNESCO City of Literature, books and events celebrating new writing should be for everyone. That's why every event during the Book Fringe is absolutely free and always will be. The authors who visit us are giving up their time to share their talent and passion with intimate crowds in the independent bookshops that serve their local communities all year round. We can't thank them enough!
a little bit more about book fringe...
The Book Fringe is an entirely independent festival of words and ideas, a unique collaboration between the Lighthouse- Edinburgh’s Radical Bookshop and Golden Hare Books.
Our programme reflects the distinct characters of bookshops that serve the readers all across the city.
Expect FREE, friendly, intimate events in two of Edinburgh’s most dynamic independent Bookshops with a fantastic selection of writers, poets and novelists.
Started in 2009 by Word Power Books (now Lighthouse), Edinburgh’s Book Fringe hosts an array of writers to perform, read from and discuss their work, as well as sign books.
